Is Statistics Math Hard
Students who do not like math or do not have strong mathematical fundamentals may struggle with statistics.
Is statistics math hard. It wasn t that bad. Think thats why i liked it the best out off all my math classes lol2. For many students math is not something that comes intuitively or automatically it takes plenty of effort. It doesn t mean that statistics is some ridiculously difficult class.
Statistics is used in many sectors such as psychology geology sociology weather forecasting probability and much more. Its almost not math. Statistics is fairly easy but you need to understand algebra in order to take it. I took it through the math dept and we used computers for part of the lessons.
Statistics is not just a math class. It is hard to explain you ll see. Hopefully this somehow answered the doubt of is statistics hard. I have never considered myself a math genius but i found stats easier and more interesting to understand than algebra.
Statistics is all about understanding data numbers with context and meaning. A fable there was once a man who needed to build a house. The goal of statistics is to gain understanding from the data it focuses on applications and hence it is distinctively considered as a mathematical science. My teacher taught college algebra as well as statistics he said you ll never use 90 of the stuff you learn in an algebra class you will use everything you learn in this class.
I start every stats class i teach with this statement but it doesn t really sink in until we get started. I am sure that is why college algebra is required for that class. It is a subject that sometimes requires students to devote lots and lots of time and energy. Statistics is a branch of math so to get a good grasp of statistics one should have good mathematical fundamentals.
The thing that makes math difficult for many students is that it takes patience and persistence. Lots of calculations to solve one problem as i recall.
